Add a comment about one of my books, the state of the world, what you want to be doing on Friday night. I don't care, just go for your life! Yes, you can even heckle.

Finished ready Private Pectus. I had a smile on my face and a tear in the eye on the last pages. What a great book about typical teen boys and what they do and think about life. Everyone has body issues whether medical or otherwise. 'Sticks' proves that you can overcome any obstacle to reach your dreams.

All well-deserved praise, Shane. Can't wait to see it short-listed (maybe even a win!) in the 2010 awards!

Sometimes I get emails from readers. Here's the latest:
If anyone wants a great read of Aussie teen fiction from a male perspective, read 'My Private Pectus' by Shane Thamm. I haven't been able to stay awake to finish a book since I got pregnant and it's 3am and I couldn't put this one down until it was finished. Good on ya Shane - Awesome.
Thanks for that Ali! - st

Hi Shane. Thanks for the email about your book launch. I hope it goes off really well & I look forward to reading it soon. I'd say you're a chip off the old block--taking after your dad's gift of writing. Say hi to Meghan. God bless. Wayne

Loved it!! Being a 30yr old woman, a book about teenage boys is not something I'd naturally pick up to read, but I was so drawn into the story (read it all in one day!!!). The glimpse into the mind and life of Jack and his friends and family was very enlightening. And it's so easy to read - the writing flows so smoothly and yet there's so much detail in every chapter - the scenery, the actions, the emotions...brilliant! The characters are totally real and believable and definitely people anyone (whether a teenager or adult) could relate to. I think it'd make a great text for Highschool English, so much you could work with in it - I can already see the lesson plans I'd be able to create from it
Looking forward to checking out more of your writing Shane, you've got quite a gift there! I'm sure this is just the beginning of a great writing career for you. All the best with the book launch on friday.
Cheers, Martha

Having worked with teenagers I think Shane has captured the struggles many young people face. Sticks doesn't like himself and finds it difficult to cope with relationships. Shane has understood this difficulty many young men encounter and has expressed it in a way that shows real understanding. There is humour but with an edge to it and it allows the reader to identify with Sticks and travel his journey with him potholes and all. Can't wait for the next story. Hugo

Remember the day at Googa I said to you, 'Done any writing lately?' Within a few days you had reset your ambition. I am truly proud and only wish that God had handed out more of the talent one generation earlier. Dad

Bloody Hell Thammy,
Never thought I'd see the day I'd have to subscribe to an email newsletter to contact you. All the best for the book launch. I've asked the parents to get me a personally signed copy and to ensure it is "commercially viable" - You know, something along the lines of "Dear Mr Steptoe, You're the reason I started writing in the first place. Everything great that I do now and in the future, can be directly attributed to your benevolence. Your constant admirer, Shane Thamm."
